My friend, in the beginning Adam and Eve held open communion with
God through His Son. He did not veil His glory for there was no need to
do so. But sin has separated us from our God and our communion with Him
has been limited. At Mount Sinai He veiled His glory in the clouds, yet
it was His desire to be with His people, thus He spoke to Moses and said
"And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them."
(Exodus 25:8). Thus the presence of the Lord was with them in the
sanctuary.
When the time was fulfilled the only begotten Son of God took upon
Himself humanity that He might dwell among humanity. "And the Word was
made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as
of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John
1:14). Thus He walked among men that the glory of God may be revealed to
mankind.
The Son of God, united divinity with humanity, that through His
life, death, and resurrection, He may impart this life to us. The
salvation that God has provided us is His very own life, given to us
through His Son. "And this is the record, that God hath given to us
eternal life, and this life is in his Son." (1 John 5:11). Through the
indwelling of the Spirit of Christ within us, we are brought into a
closer relationship with God then before sin.
In the Garden of Eden, man held open communion with the Son of God
in His glory, but soon we will be able to have open communion with God
Himself, for Jesus said "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."
(Matthew 5:8). In the New Jerusalem there is no temple for God to dwell
in, because there is no longer a need for it. We will commune with Him
even as the Son of God communes with Him, directly, for we are sons and
daughters of God, having the very life of God living within us.
My friend, what a wonderful gift is the salvation that God has
wrought out for us, that we will be brought into a closer relationship
with God then any created being has ever had the opportunity to entered
into. For divinity has been united with humanity. Oh how great is love
of God manifested to us, that we may be united with Him once again.
God bless,
