The Great Object of Life
Today's Text

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:14
When Adam came from the Creator's hand, he bore, in his physical, mental, and spiritual nature, a likeness to his Maker. “God created man in his own image” (Genesis 1:27), and it was His purpose that the longer man lived the more fully he should reveal this image—the more fully reflect the glory of the Creator. All his faculties were capable of development; their capacity and vigor were continually to increase. Vast was the scope offered for their exercise, glorious the field opened to their research. The mysteries of the visible universe—the “wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge” (Job 37:16)—invited man's study. Face-to-face, heart-to-heart communion with his Maker was his high privilege. Had he remained loyal to God, all this would have been his forever. Throughout eternal ages he would have continued to gain new treasures of knowledge, to discover fresh springs of happiness, and to obtain clearer and yet clearer conceptions of the wisdom, the power, and the love of God. More and more fully would he have fulfilled the object of his creation, more and more fully have reflected the Creator's glory.

But by disobedience this was forfeited. Through sin the divine likeness was marred, and well-nigh obliterated. Man's physical powers were weakened, his mental capacity was lessened, his spiritual vision dimmed. He had become subject to death. Yet the race was not left without hope. By infinite love and mercy the plan of salvation had been devised, and a life of probation was granted. To restore in man the image of his Maker, to bring him back to the perfection in which he was created, to promote the development of body, mind, and soul, that the divine purpose in his creation might be realized—this was to be the work of redemption. This is the object of education, the great object of life. Education, 15, 16.

To honor Christ, to become like Him, to work for Him, is the life's highest ambition and its greatest joy. Education, 297.

My Thoughts:
My friend, man was created in the image of God, that we may bring honor and glory to Him. We were created in His image in form, in character, and in relationship. Notice the words of Scripture "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (Genesis 1:27).

In this picture we see two individual beings created, therefore we can conclude that God is not a trinity as the church claims. In the creation of man, God was giving an illustration to all of the heavenly hosts, the relationship that the Son of God shared with the Father.

Adam was formed out of the dust of the earth, and was to represent the Father. Eve was brought forth out of the bosom of Adam, representing the Son. Thus the life that was in Adam was passed on to Eve. This represented to all that the Son of God came forth from the Father and as such was not a created being as were the angels, but was the divine Son of God. Thus man was created in the image of God.

This illustration was necessary because Lucifer had brought into question the authority of the Son of God, claiming that he was entitled to the same authority as the Son. Thus the creation of man sets the Son of God in His proper position and refutes the claim of Satan. This is the primary reason why Satan hates man, and seeks to destroy the image of God in man.

Satan hates the image of God in man, and as such seeks to thwart the purpose of God in creating us, but he will ultimately fail. The image that was marred by sin, will be restored in the life of the Son of God. The life of God is imparted to us through His Son. Thus Satan endeavors to prevent this work by introducing a counterfeit called God the Son; a being that is not truly the son of God, but is God unto himself. By accepting the counterfeit, the image of God cannot be manifested in us.

My friend, it is time to look away from the false god of the trinity unto the One true God through His Son Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, that the image of God may be manifested in our lives today.

He Cares for Us Every Minute
Today's Text

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Psalm 100:3
The work of creation cannot be explained by science. What science can explain the mystery of life? The Ministry of Healing, 414.

Life is a gift of God. Counsels on Health, 41.

The natural life is preserved moment by moment by divine power; yet it is not sustained by a direct miracle, but through the use of blessings placed within our reach. The Acts of the Apostles, 284.

The Saviour in His miracles revealed the power that is continually at work in man's behalf, to sustain and to heal him. Through the agencies of nature, God is working, day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment, to keep us alive, to build up and restore us. When any part of the body sustains injury, a healing process is at once begun; nature's agencies are set at work to restore soundness. But the power working through these agencies is the power of God. All life-giving power is from Him. When one recovers from disease, it is God who restores him. Sickness, suffering, and death are work of an antagonistic power. Satan is the destroyer; God is the restorer. The Ministry of Healing, 112, 113.

A great lesson is learned when we understand our relation to God, and His relation to us. Counsels on Diet and Foods, 56.

We have an individuality and an identity that is our own. No one can submerge his identity in that of any other. All must act for themselves, according to the dictates of their own conscience. As regards our responsibility and influence, we are amenable to God as deriving our life from Him. This we do not obtain from humanity, but from God only. We are His by creation and by redemption. Our very bodies are not our own, to treat as we please, to cripple by habits that lead to decay, making it impossible to render to God perfect service. Our lives and all our faculties belong to Him. He is caring for us every moment; He keeps the living machinery in action; if we were left to run it for one moment, we should die. We are absolutely dependent upon God. Counsels on Diet and Foods, 56.

My Thoughts:
My friend, God's desire for us is that we have everlasting life. The life that we now have is a life separated from God, but by the gift of His Son, He has given to His divine life. Jesus said "... I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10). Our eternal salvation is bound up in the fact that we receive the life of God through His Son.

How sad it is today that the church has been deceived into accepting a counterfeit life, that only has the outward form of godliness, but denies the power of God to transform our lives. The trinity is a false representation of God and presents a form of godliness that cannot satisfy, causing us to look to the righteousness of the law to supply our lack.

My friend, if you have accepted the counterfeit life of the trinity, you are no doubt looking to the law for righteousness, striving to keep the law that you may be acceptable to God. If this is true for you, it is time to look away from the trinity unto the only begotten Son of God, that He may bring you into connection with the One true God, that you may truly have life. "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3).

The Sources of All Life
Today's Text

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Psalm 36:9
All created beings live by the will and power of God. They are dependent recipients of the life of God. From the highest seraph to the humblest animate being, all are replenished from the Source of life. The Desire of Ages, 785.

The youth need to understand the deep truth underlying the Bible statement that with God “is the fountain of life.” Not only is He the originator of all, but He is the life of everything that lives. It is His life that we receive in the sunshine, in the pure, sweet air, in the food which builds up our bodies and sustains our strength. It is by His life that we exist, hour by hour, moment by moment. Except as perverted by sin, all His gifts tend to life, to health and joy. Education, 197, 198.

A mysterious life pervades all nature—a life that sustains the unnumbered worlds throughout immensity, that lives in the insect atom which floats in the summer breeze, that wings the flight of the swallow and feeds the young ravens which cry, that brings the bud to blossom and the flower to fruit.

The same power that upholds nature, is working also in man. The same great laws that guide alike the star and the atom control human life.The laws that govern the heart's action, regulating the flow of the current of life to the body, are the laws of the mighty Intelligence that has the jurisdiction of the soul. From Him all life proceeds. Only in harmony with Him can be found its true sphere of action. For all the objects of His creation the condition is the same—a life sustained by receiving the life of God, a life exercised in harmony with the Creator's will. To transgress His law, physical, mental, or moral, is to place one's self out of harmony with the universe. To transgress His law, physical, mental, or moral, is to place one's self out of harmony with the universe, to introduce discord, anarchy, ruin.

To him who learns thus to interpret its teachings, all nature becomes illuminated; the world is a lesson book, life a school. The unity of man with nature and with God, the universal dominion of law, the results of transgression, cannot fail of impressing the mind and molding the character. Education, 99, 100.

My Thoughts:
My friend, the source of all life is with the Father, the only true God. Through the teachings of the trinity, we have been taught that each of the beings of the godhead is a source of life, but this is not supported from the Scriptures. "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;" (John 5:26).

Even the Son of God, like any natural son, received life from His Father, but the life that He received, is not the same life that we have: dependent upon the Father for life. The Son of God received the divine life of God, original, unborrowed, underived. Thus His life is not dependent upon a continual upholding by the Father. But while the Son of God has a divine life, He is not the source of life, but He imparts His divine life to us.

In this way the Son of God was the only being in all the universe that could save may. Not even the life of a holy angel could restore life back to the human race. Only the divine life of God given to us through His Son could accomplish this, for only One who has been given the life of God could also lay it down.

My friend, the beauty of the gospel is in the fact that "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16). In giving us His Son, He gives us His life. "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3).
