A Dangerous Form of Mind Cure

Today's Text Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8

There is ... a form of mind cure that is one of the most effective agencies for evil. Through this so-called science, one mind is brought under the control of another so that the individuality of the weaker is merged in that of the stronger mind. One person acts out the will of another.... But the so-called science is based upon false principles. It is foreign to the nature and spirit of Christ. It does not lead to Him who is life and salvation. The one who attracts minds to himself leads them to separate from the true Source of their strength. The Ministry of Healing, 242. In these days when skepticism and infidelity so often appear in a scientific garb, we need to be guarded on every hand. Through this means our great adversary is deceiving thousands, and leading them captive according to his will. The advantage he takes of the sciences, sciences which pertain to the human mind, is tremendous. Here, serpentlike, he imperceptibly creeps in to corrupt the work of God.... While it is believed that one human mind so wonderfully affects another, Satan, who is ready to press every advantage, insinuates himself, and works on the right hand and on the left. And while those who are devoted to these sciences, laud them to the heavens because of the great and good works which they affirm are wrought by them, they little know what a power for evil they are cherishing.... Mark the influence of these sciences, dear reader; for the conflict between Christ and Satan is not yet ended.... Neglect of prayer leads men to rely on their own strength, and opens the door to temptation. In many cases the imagination is captivated by scientific research, and men are flattered through the consciousness of their own powers. Selected Messages 2:351, 352. My Thoughts: My friend, one of Satan’s most effective weapons against mankind is mind upon mind. Those to whom he has deceived he then leads to deceive others. When Eve was deceived into sin the first thing that she did was to entice her husband to join her. This method of mind upon mind has been used effectively ever since. Today the enemy of souls has successfully used this method to infiltrate and overcome the remnant church of God. Men whose minds have been corrupted by the serpent have crept into the church and have sowed seeds of error into the minds of the people of God. Little by little and generation after generation these seeds of error have grown and taken root within the church, the fruit of which has been manifested in the Laodicean condition. Jude writes of this saying “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Jude 4). The fruit of these ungodly men causes the people to deny the Father and the Son. The trinity teaches that the Father Son relationship is only a metaphor, meaning not literally true. In essence the trinity denies that the Son of God is a true son and as such denies both the Father and the Son. At the heart of the Laodicean condition is the denial of the Son of God. Because the church has embraced the trinity it has lost the white garment of Christ’s righteousness, and as such is “… wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:” (Revelation 3:17). By the church’s adoption of the trinity in 1980, it has officially joined the ranks of the daughters of Babylon. Though they still hold to the true sabbath, they have forsaken the One true God and His only begotten Son. My friend, it is time for you to open your eyes to the great deception that Satan has played upon us. As Seventh-day Adventists we pride ourselves in our understanding of prophecy and our keeping of the seventh-day Sabbath, and because of this we cannot see that the God that we now worship has been changed. It is time for us to heed the warning of Jesus the Faithful and True Witness of God and be zealous in our repentance, opening the doors of our hearts to receive Jesus the true Son of God.
