My friend, we do not fully realize the wonderful gift that was given to us in the Son of God. Most look to the great sacrifice of God in giving His Son to die for a guilty race, but do not venture further as to the full reach of our salvation. In order to better understand the great sacrifice of God in giving us His Son, we need to better understand the depth of the problem with sin.
For most sin is simply the transgression of the law of God. While this is true, the problem of sin goes much deeper. In choosing to eat of the forbidden fruit and share the fate of his wife, Adam had separated himself from God. In separating himself from God he took upon himself the nature of sin. No longer was his life in harmony with the will of God, and though not fully developed, sin reigned in his heart and notwithstanding his repentance, he could only gave to his posterity the nature of a sinful heart.
Our true problem with sin is that we are sinful, at enmity with the law of God. Human nature is selfish and wicked, and though we guard the passions of our hearts from others, selfishness reigns within. The prophet Jeremiah wrote "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9). In our sinful condition we cannot produce righteousness, for righteousness can only come from a righteous heart. Our problem with sin is not just that we have sinned, but that we are sinful by nature, and unless our natures are transformed, we cannot be saved.
The great gift of God in giving us His Son is not just in the sacrifice and death of His Son, but in His life. The Son of God came from the very essence of the Father and as such shares His divine nature. The Spirit of the One true God lives within the Son, and as such in giving us His Son, He gave of Himself. "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5:19).
How sad it is today that the wonderful gift of God in giving us His Son is destroyed by the very people that claim to be followers of Christ. Christianity, in adopting the the belief that God is a trinity destroy the foundation of the gospel which is "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16).
The trinity teaches that the Son of God is not truly a son, for a true son must have a beginning, and the trinity teaches that the Son of God is co-eternal, meaning that He has no beginning. It teaches that the Son is simply a title or role that one of the god-beings has assumed for the salvation of man. If this is true of the Son, then it is also true of the Father, for if the Son is not truly a son, then the Father is not truly a father, thus destroying the gift of God in giving us His Son. Of this the Scriptures have foretold saying "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son." (1 John 2:22).
My friend, our true problem with sin is that we are by nature sinful, and in and of ourselves we cannot be righteous. No matter how many good deeds we do, it is all tainted by our sinful nature. "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;" (Isaiah 64:4). What we need is a total transformation of life. "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." (1 John 5:11).
May you turn away from the false god of the trinity unto the One true God through His Son Jesus Christ today, that you may be cleansed from all unrighteousness by the life of the Son of God dwelling within your heart.
God bless,
