My friend, in the Scriptures is revealed to us the bread of life. The Scriptures themselves are not life, but they point to the One who is life, the Son of God. The life that is given to us is the very life and character of God, and this is given to us by the Son of God. "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." (1 John 5:11).
Many today think that the Bible alone sanctifies us, but this is not so. It is simply the inspired words of God that leads us to the true source of life and that is Jesus Christ, the Son of the One true God. The Jews believed that the Scriptures themselves contained eternal life, but Jesus corrected them saying "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." (John 5:39, 40). Jesus is the fullness of the God; He is the Word made flesh, He is what the whole of the Scriptures pointed to.
The word of God is made powerful when it is connected to the source of life in the Son of God. It is by His life that we are transformed. If the Bible alone was enough to bring salvation then the Son of God need not become a man. The Son of God came that we might have life, a life that was not previously available to us. Adam had lost the righteous and holy life that he was created with, and as such he could only give to us that which he had, a life that was separated from God; a life that was prone to sin and death.
Though Adam had repented of his sins and accepted the salvation by faith, the righteous life that was to be given was not yet a reality. It was still a promise of God that had yet to be manifested. When the fullness of time had come, God sent His Son, that divinity might be joined together with humanity, that the life that was destroyed by Adam might be restored in the Son of man.
We must have the very life of God living within us, and that life is found only in the Son of God. If your image of God is a trinity, they you are not connected to the true Son of God, for the trinity denies that the Son of God is truly a son. By denying the Son it also denies the Father as well, for if the Son is not really a son, then the Father is not really a father, making Him out to be a liar, for He said "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:17).
My friend, if we are to be saved we must have the life of Christ living within us, for it is the very life of God manifested in man that we may become righteous and holy, sons and daughters of God.
God bless,
